The WordPress community can feel surprisingly small at times, but we’re still discovering new products, services, and teams every week. Many of them serve completely different audiences from our own, creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration.
Whether through light-touch collaborations (shared blog posts, social media content, or newsletter features) or larger projects, partnerships not only get your business in front of new audiences but also introduce people to useful, trusted services they may not have discovered otherwise.
In the past, WP Buffs has partnered with everyone from global brands like Kinsta Hosting (we co-created a comprehensive WordPress disaster-prevention guide) to smaller agencies and businesses across the WordPress ecosystem.
In most cases, these partnerships didn’t start with formal agreements or strategic planning sessions. They started with conversations.
Whether at WordCamps, online events, or through mutual connections, many of the strongest partnerships we’ve built began as simple relationships that developed over time.
That’s because successful partnerships aren’t just about finding ways to benefit each other’s businesses. They’re about shared values, complementary expertise, and a genuine desire to contribute something useful to the community.
The most successful partnerships aren’t built around the question, “How can we each benefit from this?”
Take WPML as an example – WP Buffs don’t offer translation services, but we get a lot of customers looking for help with this. It only made sense that we partnered with the WPML team and highlighted them in our Partner Resource Hub. That partnership began after meeting the WPML team at WordCamp Europe and grew naturally from there.
We went on to recommend their tools when translation needs arose and collaborated on several initiatives together. The partnership connected us more deeply with the WordPress translation community while providing a trusted solution for multilingual projects.
When you’re running a business, you need to think strategically about your partnerships, but partnerships are much more than that. They should strengthen your connection to the community you’re already part of and contribute to it in a meaningful way. Some of the best partnerships WP Buffs have built have taken years. Years of informal meetups, back-and-forth emails, and keeping in touch with the humans behind the brands. When you take time to build connections, you naturally align with people who share similar values and goals.
Having said that, not every partnership that shows up is going to be a good fit or a good choice.
If a business has a fantastic product or service, but its values aren’t aligned with your own, a partnership can feel transactional rather than genuine, which definitely comes across to your customers. People can sense when you’re just trying to make a quick buck and when you’re truly aligned with each other – and that’s always been very important to us at WP Buffs.
Partnering with Equalize Digital
Our partnership with Equalize Digital is a great example of what that alignment looks like in practice.
Our partnership with Equalize Digital has grown over the years – from sharing their expertise with our audience through guest content and educational resources, to co-creating an accessibility ebook that helps make web accessibility more approachable for WordPress website owners.
The collaboration between WP Buffs and Equalize Digital helps WordPress website owners make accessibility a regular part of their website maintenance.
By combining website support services with accessibility testing and guidance, the partnership makes it easier to identify barriers, improve usability, and create more inclusive experiences for all visitors.
Equalize Digital identifies the accessibility roadblocks, and then the team at WP Buffs clears the path.
That’s the kind of partnership that helps our clients and their website users in a very real, tangible way.
