Earlier this month, WordPress development company ClikIT announced acquisition of Infinite Uploads, a WordPress plugin that allows all sites built with WordPress to offload their media library to the cloud and serve the content through a content delivery network (CDN). The deal includes Big File Uploads, a popular WordPress plugin with over 100,000 active installations.
The acquisition strengthens ClikIT’s WordPress toolset, adding Infinite Uploads to its existing product lineup which includes ClikIT Care, ClikIT Quick Sites, and Secure Forms. The move comes as website owners face increasing challenges with media storage costs and content delivery performance.
“We’re targeting the growing need for efficient media management in the WordPress ecosystem,” ClikIT CEO Blake Whittle stated in the press release “As websites become more media-heavy, developers need better solutions for handling large files and video streaming.”
What sets Infinite Uploads apart in the competitive WordPress hosting market is its infrastructure costs, which the company claims are six times lower than industry alternatives.
This cost advantage translates to significantly more affordable pricing for end users. While traditional web hosts charge upwards of $170 monthly for 10GB of storage and $290 for 15GB with limited CDN bandwidth, Infinite Uploads offers a package with 100GB storage and 200GB bandwidth at $24 per month.
The acquisition promises several immediate benefits for existing Infinite Uploads customers, including enhanced customer support, more competitive pricing tiers, and new feature development. ClikIT has confirmed that service continuity will be maintained throughout the transition period.
This move reflects the broader trend of consolidation in the WordPress ecosystem, as companies seek to build comprehensive solutions for the platform’s growing user base.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Future plans
In this announcement, Blake Whittle stated that the “short-term plans (over the next two months) will focus on business as usual while our team gets up to speed with the infrastructure. Starting at the beginning of the year, we’ll implement a mix of small and significant changes.”
These include:
- Reintroducing the affiliate program
- Investing in the WordPress community

- Enhancing support response times and regularly updating documentation
- Integrating Infinite Uploads into the ClikIT brand
